It's Getting Late

I haven't been able to pull together any thoughts into one coherent post yet today, so I'm just going to jump around some of the meandering thoughts I've had today. I sort of re-discovered Tim Minchin, in that I remembered how much I love his work and took some time to re-listen to several of my favorite of his songs.  It was, for a little while, genuinely moving, and really helped with my anxiety.  Watching him perform is a bit like hope.

Dance is beautiful.  I was watching videos (I'll link eventually) of this dude dancing, and it was incredible to watch someone whose body flows that clearly and coherently with the sounds entering and surrounding it.  I'm not sure I could ever get into watching formal ballet, and I know I don't like dancing myself, but watching people who are good at it dance is an incredibly inspiring and moving art form.

The film Velvet Goldmine is incredible, and I recommend it to everyone.  I finally managed to watch it all the way from start to finish yesterday, and intend to watch it a few more times in the near future.

That's all I can think of right now, talk to you tomorrow.

Good morning/evening/afternoon/temporal sunless bubble of doom everyone (delete as applicable), and welcome to my blog thingy.  I've started it for a few reasons:

  • I'm about to lose my job, giving me a lot of free time,
  • I'm about to start school, which means I need to get back into practice writing large volumes again,
  • Every writer I've ever read who discusses the subject at all insists that all writers should have blogs (though the pool of my sources is admittedly biased,)

And perhaps most importantly,

  • I'm bored.

In an effort to cut this boredom down to its roots, weeding out idle processes and cultivating productive preoccupations, I'm taking on a number of projects in the immediate future.  I'll be getting on twitter, starting a comic, maybe even writing some poetry.

And I'll be blogging here.

To start myself off, I intend to blog here every day for the rest of the month.  I'm not necessarily going to keep that pace up, because my last blog was daily, and it led to a lot of fairly poor-quality posts.  I think I'll be able to manage a decent update schedule, but I'm not committing to daily.  (I'm not committing to just once-daily, either.  For the record.)
